Except they weren't. Hardly anyone outside Nintendo, Capcom and Factor
5 got anything reasonable out of the Cube. Most titles were based
around the vastly inferior PS2.
We're seeing the same with the Wii, with most developers sill relying
on their PS2 level technology, and not seeing the worth in investing in
learning the Wii's unique architecture. Though, fwiw getting stuff like
normal mapping running on the Wii is hardly a monumental uptaking, just
look at this homebrew coder that has normal mapped the original Quake
in a few spare weekends:

I can't find any good screen shot, but Virtua Fighter 3 came out in 1997.
Edit - This is the best I can find, and yes, I know it's the DC version, but they're very close visually.

I'll have to disagree with people who think it looks great. Sure it's acceptable for the Wii but it simply does not look good.

Wow. Is Infinity Ward doing this or did they farm it out? Treyarch is porting it.
I mean, still though.
Call of Duty 2: Big Red One (Treyarch, PS2/GC/Xbox, 2005)

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Treyarch, Wii, 2009)

What the fuck.
I guess some of the details aren't known yet, so here you have the highlights from my report:
Quote:
- gamescom version is “almost beta” - nothing taken down from the original version, everything included: every multiplayer map, every multi mode, all the original IA in single mode, all campaign mode from PS360 - DLC not included. Neither Wii Speak/Motionplus. - Keep evolving Treyarch’s engine is one of the port’s reasons. Graphic improvements in some textures resolution, general performance, new particle effects. (It looks pretty similar to WaW to me ATM). 30 fps. - WaW connections numbers on Wii over any expectation, complete surprise and one of the reasons for this game/multi - online improvements: now up to 10 players, host migration and possibility to invite connected friends - team is similar to WaW’s: from 25 to 30 people - IW’s role: giving engine code last year, MW code now and some supervision - control: everything is configurable, ala Conduit. Smoother and better. All parameters, new scope setting. Up to 6 presets: from “greenhorn” to “insane” - squad mate mode is back. Zapper also compatible with single player - CG/VA/sound effects/ OST from PS360. - no camera allowed, more stuff soon.

That's what I got. I kinda liked it, because it's like WaW with better controls.
"When you see the graphics , you wirru say wow."

I said wow.
